Part-Time Kitchen Assistant

Job Description

Essential Job Functions

  • Quickly and efficiently prepare food
  • Read and understand labels and instructions, particularly regarding food safety and food hygiene
  • Read senior center menu
  • Serve lunch and dessert to all seniors
  • Wash dishes, pots, and utensils
  • Service as a substitute when the Employment Specialist is not present for the day
  • Work well under pressure and meet deadlines

While performing the duties of this job the incumbent will have to sit, stand and or walk for the majority of the shift. The incumbent is required to regularly talk or hear while fulfilling the duties of the job. The employee may have to lift up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the environment can be loud depending on what kitchen machinery is in use.

Education

High School or better

Experience

     Understanding of food safety and hygiene

    1 year: Food Industry Experience
